THE TAKE 5 SERIES
Mark Sixma, the Dutch trance and house producer from the hometown of Breda, Netherlands, mastered the art of DJing at high school parties and a local club, De Spock. Since then, his art has reached all corners of the world: from the stage at Ultra Music Festival to the top of music charts. He sat down with Nexus Radio to take part in our Take 5 series.
His talent was scouted early on, as one of Mark Sixma’s first releases caught the attention of none other than fellow Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren. The senior DJ featured it as “Tune of the Week” on his world-renowned show A State of Trance, which led to Mark Sixma’s sophomore single being signed with Armada Music. Earlier this year, the artist celebrated his ten-year anniversary with the label.
His 2013 single “Requiem,” which was released on W&W’s fast-rising label Mainstage Music, topped the Beatport trance chart and permanently holds the title of most played trance track of that year.
Since then, Mark Sixma has continued to release new trance music, including his latest album The World of Six. Featuring six tracks, it is often referred to as a ‘mini-album.’ But where quantity lacks, quality shines. The well-crafted album features collaborations with ANVY and T99. For fans wanting more, Mark Sixma released a version including bonus remixes earlier this year.
