FARIUS
In recent years, there’s been one artist making a huge splash in the Progressive Trance scene, and his name is Farius.
Farius is a UK-based DJ whose career took off in 2017 when he hit the charts with his unforgettable single ‘Echo Chamber’. From there he blew through the scene, becoming an almost overnight success until in 2020, fans were finally treated to the unique sound of his debut album From the Start.
Since then, Farius has been unstoppable, working on new music and playing at festivals worldwide. From Cologne to Miami, Paris to New York, he’s already becoming a recognizable face across Europe and America. He’s also worked with several iconic brands like Mistry of Sound and A State Of Trance and has almost 200’000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
He also hosts a weekly radio show called Enhanced Sessions–for the label Enhanced Music–in which he showcases all the label’s best artists and new releases.
Here at Nexus Radio, we are also lucky enough to speak with some of the very best up-and-coming talents from the EDM world and ask them a few questions you might not hear anywhere else. In this week’s Take5, Farius found himself on the other side of the mic for a while as we asked him 10 illuminating questions in the hopes of shining a little light on his creative process and the personality behind it.

Q: Before we dig in, what’s next for you?
Some big plans ahead! I’m off to Miami to host the Nexus Lounge again this year and play a couple of shows for Miami Music Week. Music-wise, I just wrapped up my next single for May with a vocalist I’m super gassed to be working with!
Q: Why did you choose to make dance music?
I’ve worked in a few different areas of music in my life, from studying classical music to singing in choirs – but nothing comes close to experiencing dance music in a club or festival space with thousands of other people together – it’s something I can’t describe.
Q: How important are lyrics?
Hugely. I’ve always been a “melody first” kind of producer, but once that’s there, and in place, the next thing to focus on is how to tell a story in a way people can relate to it. I’ve passed up so many toplines because the lyrical message doesn’t work for me; I can be pretty fussy!
Q: What do you think of Robots making music? (The digital expansion within electronic/ dance music)
Well, electronic music is electronic by its very nature! So, of course, I’m excited to see where we go in the next few years technologically, but music ultimately is an emotional expression, whatever shape or form it comes in. For me, that’s something only humans can create.
Q: What’s something everyone should experience at least once in their life?
Being out of their comfort zone, because that’s where life begins for me.

Believe it or not, I trained in classical singing at a music conservatoire in London after high school. But since I shifted into electronic music, I rarely sing out loud! Still working on why that is…
Q: What was the weirdest habit you had as a child?
I was a bad nail-biter! So bad that my parents put a gross tasting, see-through nail varnish on me before school so it would stop me biting them in class. 20 something years later… I’m still biting them.
Q: What invention would advance humanity the most if you could go back in time and inspire someone to make a present-day invention?
I think it’s got to be electricity. We could have been making electronic music in 2550BC in the pyramids!
Q: Can You Dream Of Having A Dream?
100%, I sometimes find myself in some weird inception-type dreams. I never seem to get to the next dream level where Leonardo di Caprio and I live happily ever after 🙁
Q: What double standard is ridiculous and needs to be ended?
UK Radio DJs consistently say “trance is coming back!” and then do not support any trance on their shows. Not cool, bro!
