THE 10 Qs SERIES
Malóne’s life has been like a rollercoaster lately, packed with thrilling, life-changing twists and turns. He’s now the resident DJ at Club Space, snagged the #1 spot worldwide on Beatport’s AfroHouse charts, and kicked off a new record label brimming with fresh releases.
Chatting with Nexus Radio, Malóne can’t help but get goosebumps as he reminisces about the eclectic influences that shaped Anthony Perez into the DJ sensation he is today.
Born and bred in Miami, Malóne’s musical journey began early. His uncle, a DJ in the Miami scene during the ’80s, taught him the basics of DJing when he was just 10. With piano lessons as a kid and some music courses in college, Malóne has been spinning and producing electronic house music since 2012.
Malóne’s ascent in the underground music world hasn’t gone unnoticed. Dubbed one of the “Future of Dance Artists” by 1001 Tracklists for two consecutive years and featured in “DJ Mag Spain” as a 2024 artist to watch, his talent for electrifying dancefloors with his magnetic sound and live sets is undeniable.
In January 2024, this dynamic artist unveiled his new label and event series, WHYNOTUS, alongside his single “444” – an energetic, Afro-infused tech-house banger. “I’m putting out as much new music as I can this year while throwing curated WHYNOTUS showcases around the globe. My goal with the label is to sign music from artists from all over the world as well and support them in any way I can,” Malóne expressed.
After a bustling summer orchestrating sunrise sets on the terrace of Space Miami, Malóne has collected a treasure trove of unforgettable memories. “The last time I closed, I was supposed to play for 3 hours but ended up going for almost 6 hours. The last hour was just 50 people, including the owners and staff, having the best time,” he recalled.
