THE 10 Qs SERIES
Australian DJ CYRIL has just dropped his brand new EP “To The World,”” a continuation of his fantastic “From Down Under,” released earlier this year. These new tracks carry the same style and tone, blending the sound of electronic music with a country-inspired twist, and you’d better believe there are a couple of real earworms on here.
Perhaps best known for his remix of Disturbed’s iconic cover of “The Sound of Silence” as well as the infinitely listenable “Stumblin’ In”,” CYRIL found his audience through social media, with many fans sharing his work on TikTok. That said, his road to success has been challenging, and he’s certainly had a fair few challenges to contend with along the way, both creatively and personally.
Nonetheless, his passion has always guided him, helping him build a loyal base of listeners all around the world. This has allowed him to perform at incredible festivals like Germany’s Parookaville as well as collaborate with outstanding artists like Robin Schulz. And the success story doesn’t end there.
Whether you’re new to CYRIL or not, you should absolutely listen to his latest EP, especially if you love to find creative and original new sounds.
And if you’d like to learn more about CYRIL, his story, his approach to making music, and the most bizarre life experience he’s ever had, then be sure to keep reading for our full, exclusive Nexus Radio interview from this year’s Amsterdam.
Q: Before we dig in, what's next for you after the "To The World" EP and the debut US Tour you are currently on?
Well, I’ve just finished the US Tour, which was super cool, and had a heap of music come out the last 3-4 weeks, including my collaboration with Robin Schulz, which has a sample from one of Fatboy Slim’s biggest songs that is super exciting but the song everyone has been hounding me for on socials ‘Still Into You’ finally came out last Friday!
Q: Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your live performances.
This year I played Parookaville Festival in Germany and we were one of the last acts to be confirmed so I was playing like 2nd opening on the Spinnin stage. My manager and I didn’t expect a big crowd and when we got there there were probably 300-400 people on the stage then when i jumped on 15 minutes in there were 3,500+ the whole stage was full and I thought wow this is so awesome.
Q: How does music impact your life?
Music is my life, really. Of course, my family and son are included in that of course, but there isn’t a time in my life I don’t remember music being a part of it from growing up in a small town in regional Australia. It’s always been there and is my happy place.
