10Qs with “Mascon” Artist DOBé

THE 10 Qs SERIES

A worldwide phenomenon who’s on the path to major success, DOBé has been making a serious name for himself since day one. With his first releases, he not only managed to enter the Top 20 Beatport Techno charts within a week but he almost managed to secure some incredible DJ support from names like Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, and Richie Hawtin just to name a few.

An international performer, DOBé has played stages across five continents, from Beijing to Burning Man, building up an incredible base of fan support all over the world.

But it’s not just his incredible success that makes DOBé stand out from the crowd. His techno style combines Deep Tech and Melodic Techno to innovate a new and creative sound. With a strong dark acoustic influence his music may not be your classic dancefloor pop, but it’ll certainly get you into the groove with subtle and immersive melodies.

Of course, DOBé is perhaps best known for his creative remix of the Grammy award winning “Baraye” but he’s also released plenty of original tracks, each bringing its own intense emotion to the table. Suffice it to say, here’s one artist who’s more than happy to work outside the box when fashioning new musical experiences for his audience.

But what’s next for this up and coming artist? And what’s it like to tour the world? To learn more about DOBé and his Deep Tech/Techno sound, be sure to check out the full, exclusive Nexus Radio interview below!

Q: Before we dig in, what's next for you?

My touring schedule is pretty packed these months, Asia and Australia are scheduled next.

Also, I’m currently working on new music, finalizing another track together with Afnan Prince. I’m so grateful that Nora En Pure connected us, it’s a wonderful match, so watch out for further collaborations.

Q: Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your live performances.

New Year’s Eve 2023 in Beirut. I had the honor to close one of the most iconic clubs in the world called  B018. The history of this club is breathtaking, they built the club in a bunker during the war. When I played the closing set, they opened the roof at 5 am and the first sunlight of the year reflected into the club. It was just magical.

Q: How does music impact your life?

Music does not impact my life, it is my life.

Q: What's the most embarrassing song on your playlist?

No debate, it’s Cotton Eye Joe.

Q: Describe your most bizarre life experience thus far

That’s a tough one, there were already so many.   One of my favorite stories goes back to Namibia two years ago. Some friends invited me to do a sightseeing flight in a small airplane for two people. When I arrived at the private hangar, the pilot informed me several times to fasten my seatbelt very tight. I was already wondering why…

As soon as we had departed and in the air, he said I had to fasten an additional seat belt for the acrobatics. And I was like: What acrobatics? It was already too late, we did several flips and spins with the airplane and I was screaming like in a movie. It was just unreal and so funny, flying somewhere above Namibia and doing loopings.

One of the most bizarre and best experiences in my life!
