After releasing on Anjunabeats, Armada, and Enhanced as well as garnering support from the likes of Armin van Buuren and David Guetta, it’s fair to say that if you haven’t heard of Farius by now then you’re missing out on the cutting edge of modern dance music.
Popular both for his outstanding releases and his incredible personality as a broadcaster, Farius has built up an audience of fans who simply can’t get enough of him and that audience is growing every day. After a run of stunning live shows with brands like Ministry of Sound and A State of Trance, he’s gone international, performing on stages across the Netherlands, Romania, Mexico, and North America.
And, of course, we’d be remiss if we failed to mention his excellent work as a radio presenter right here on Nexus Radio, bringing an amazing energy to every one of his artist interviews both at Miami Music Week and Amsterdam Dance Event.
But Farius isn’t just an excellent DJ and a remarkable performer – he’s also a tireless songwriter. After a run of boundary pushing singles, this November will see Farius release his second album ‘Synapse’ and the excitement is simply through the roof.
No doubt he’s got some incredible new material in store for us, but here at Nexus Radio we just couldn’t wait to ask him all about it. That’s why today we decided to turn the tables on Farius with an exclusive Nexus Radio 10Qs interview!
Q: Before we dig in, what's next for you?
I’m in Album mode! It’s a labour of love but it will be worth it in the end. I just released the second single from the album, Staring At The Sun with Jonathan Mendelsohn – the lyrics and message behind the song are poignant and a message Jonathan and I wanted to put out there we are both part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Q: Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your live performances.
Wow where to start! Last year when I was touring the US with Tritonal someone threw a message on the stage with their number on it asking me to call them – that was pretty flattering!
Q: How does music impact your life?
It’s everything I know. From the age of maybe 7 or 8 I have always had music be a part of my life – from singing in church choirs to playing drums in a rock band, right through til now as a full time DJ and music producer. Without music, I genuinely don’t know what would fill that void in my life.
Q: What's the most embarrassing song on your playlist?
Haha, I like to own everything in my playlists and feel embarrassed about nothing! I do have a couple of Ru Paul records in my saved songs on Spotify – sissy that walks!
Q: What's the most ridiculous music video you've ever seen?
I used to be super into music videos when I was a kid – I would sit down with a VHS and record all my favorites off the TV and re-watch them (and maybe learn the dance moves!). I think the most ridiculous was Adam Rickett – Breathe again – come to think of it, it may well have been my gay awakening – him naked in a perspex box…. Who comes up with these ideas?!

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
I’m a big Stracciatella fan!
Q: If you could solve one global problem overnight, what would it be?
People who clap when the plane lands. I don’t know what I’d do with them, but it’s a pressing issue that needs global attention.
Q: If you had a time machine and could visit any historical period, where and when would you go?
Now that’s tooooo difficult! Part of me would love to go back to Roman times and see how they rolled and what they got up to. Then on the way back to today, can I stop off in the 60s and see what the fuss was all about?!
Q: What movies have inspired you?
I have to be honest – I am not a huge movie guy. But I’ve been hugely inspired by the music written by John Williams and Hans Zimmer – it’s a cliche I know but a cliche for a reason!
Q: Describe your most bizarre life experience thus far.
I don’t know if it’s THE MOST bizarre experience in my 30+ years on this planet but last year I was cycling to the gym in London, at about 6:30 am, and I saw I guy wearing shoes, socks, and a backpack… and nothing else. It was like he was on his way to work but just had forgotten to put any actual clothes on. He was a fully respectable-looking guy, literally like anyone on their way to the office – and he was just marching on his way like nothing was out of the ordinary!! You know those dreams you have when you’re naked in public? It was like that for him but actual real life!
