Amsterdam Dance Event Celebrates 20 Years

The year is rushing headlong into autumn and that means that it is time again for the Amsterdam Dance Event. This five-day EDM festival and conference happens every year in mid-October, and this year is its 2oth anniversary!

This year’s festival, which begins on October 14th, already has over 2,000 artists and over 500 speakers lined up, and according to the website, the program is only 86% complete. In addition to all the musical sets and speaker panels, there are also exhibitions, art, films, and even a DJ cook-off! The only problem I see is that with so many awesome things to do and see, how do you choose which ones to go to?

There’s even a special conference for the 20th anniversary: “20 Years of ADE – the State of the Techno Nation,” which features Dave Clarke (GB), Baron of Techno; Marcel Dettmann (DE), DJ and Producer; Steve Rachmad (NL), DJ and Producer; Octave One (US), DJ and Producer; Joran van Pol (NL), DJ and Producer; and Dan Cole (GB), DJBroadcast as the moderator. The panel seeks to answer the question: “So three decades since its birth, what exactly is techno and equally significantly, who decides what is and isn’t?”
