Chicago’s GLBT film festival kicks off 32nd year

Chicago’s LGBT international film festival kicked off its 32nd year on Thursday September 18th 2014. Reeling is known for showcasing some of the world’s most groundbreaking and diverse LGBT films.

Reeling opened its eight-day event with Boy Meets Girl. Trans actress Michelle Hendley shines in her debut role in this charming romantic comedy about a love triangle involving a small town Kentucky trans girl. Actor and comedian Alec Mapa attended opening night. Mapa who is widely known for his role as fashion-critic extraordinaire on the T.V. series UGLY BETTY, was among those in the crowd promoting his new film Baby Daddy.

Baby Daddy is a comedy-documentary based on about Alec and his husband’s journey as adoptive parents through the LA County foster care system. The Mapa’s adopt a five year old African American child from Compton that highlights the true definition of a diverse family.
