Countdown to UMF: The Best of Adam Beyer

In just over a month, the best of the electronic music scene will be flocking to Miami for the 2024 edition of Ultra Music Festival, set to take place at the iconic Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami from March 22nd to 24th. Continuing to raise the bar with every new festival edition, Ultra 2024 promises to be one of the most remarkable events of this year’s festival season.

Ultra 2024 will feature dozens of incredible artists, including heavy hitters like Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Vintage Culture, and Tiesto. Also on that list is Swedish techno legend Adam Beyer, the founder of Drumcode Records and one of the original artists to come out of Sweden’s burgeoning techno scene in the nineties.

We’re looking back at some of our favorite tracks from this artist’s varied discography in anticipation of what is bound to be an incredible Ultra Music set. Keep reading to discover some of our favorite Adam Beyer tracks.

1. Teach Me

Adam Beyer’s collaboration with fellow techno heavyweight Joseph Capriati, “Teach Me,” is a relentless journey into the depths of underground dance music—somewhat of a classic theme for Adam. Released in 2014 on Beyer’s own Drumcode label, this track is a masterclass in driving rhythms and hypnotic basslines. Its pulsating energy and precise percussion work create an atmosphere that’s both immersive and electrifying, making it a standout in Beyer’s extensive discography. For the techno connoisseurs, we recommend checking out the Amelie Lens Mix of this track.

2. Your Mind

A collaboration with Bart Skils, “Your Mind” was released in 2018 on Drumcode to much acclaim. Characterized by its brooding bassline, haunting synth stabs, and relentless groove, this track’s hypnotic nature and expertly crafted tension make it a favorite among techno aficionados and a staple in Beyer’s live sets around the globe.

3. Stone Flower

This track is a prime example of Adam Beyer’s knack for blending raw energy with subtle intricacies. Released in 2017 on Drumcode, “Stone Flower” unfolds with a mesmerizing combination of throbbing basslines, intricate percussion, and ethereal melodies. Its relentless drive and atmospheric elements create an immersive sonic experience that keeps listeners locked in from start to finish.

4. Desert Queen

One of Adam’s more recent releases, “Desert Queen” is the high-octane stuff of techno dreamers. Its unrelenting beat and smooth mix are characteristic of Adam’s output, though Desert Queen goes far in its exploration of the desert landscape in a way that is refreshing and novel. With its choral samples and Indian-inspired vocals, this track stands out amongst Adam’s excellent discography.

5. Let’s Begin

Dropped just last week, “Let’s Begin” is the latest from Adam’s new crop of releases, building to what we can only assume will be an EP or album drop. Electric and eclectic, the track is sure to be featured in Adam’s upcoming Ultra Music Festival and will be a welcome addition to what is sure to be the performance of a lifetime.
