Da Buzz is a Swedish band in the Eurodance and pop genre. Formed in 1999, Da Buzz is comprised of members Per Lidén and Pier Schmid, as writers and producers, and lead-singer Annika Thornquist. They are best known for 2003 single “Alive,” but have accumulated a number of hits throughout the years. Here are some of the highlights of their career as a band for over 20 years:
Da Sound – 2000
Da Sound was the very first album that Da Buzz released. “Paradise” was the first single released for the album, in 1999, and singles “Do You Want Me,” “Let Me Love You,” and “Believe in Love” followed. “Let Me Love You” landed the band their first #1 Billboard Magazine club hit, after Grammy Award-winning remixer Hex Hector remixed the song. .
Their debut album did fairly well in their home country of Sweden, peaking at #16 for 10 weeks. It also peaked at #15 in Norway, another country where the Eurodance band has received support over the years.
More Than Alive – 2003
More Than Alive was the Swedish group’s third studio album, following the 2002 Wanna Be With Me? Their third album was the most commercially successful of all their albums, peaking at #2 in Sweden.
“Alive” was the lead single for the album and is Da Buzz’s most popular song to date, boasting over 12 million streams on Spotify. “Alive” topped the chart in Sweden, the first of any of Da Buzz’s songs to do so.
Last Goodbye – 2006
With a very ironic album title, Last Goodbye was Da Buzz’s fifth and most recent studio album, and also the last one that they released before entering a hiatus of a few years. Last Goodbye came after their fourth studio album, Dangerous (2004).
Last Goodbye charted at number 18 in their home country of Sweden. The album features singles “Last Goodbye,” “Without Breaking,” and “Soon My Heart” / “World for 2.” The eponymous single reached #1 in Sweden, the second of Da Buzz’s songs to do so.
2010 – Present
After a hiatus from music for a couple of years, Da Buzz made their comeback in June of 2010, bringing with them single “U Gotta Dance.” A few months later, they released a remixed version of the single, which was used as the theme song for Swedish TV show Let’s Dance.
Since then, Da Buzz has released a number of singles over the years, including: “Got This Feeling” and “Tomorrow” in 2012; “Can You Feel the Love,” “The Moment I Found You,” and “Bring Back the Summer” in 2014; “Where My Heart Lies” in 2018; “Touch My Soul” and in 2019.
In 2015, Da Buzz released an EP titled “Moment I Found You – The Uncovered EP.” The “Bring Back the Summer” music video featured photos of Da Buzz’s fans on their favorite summer holidays, which the band asked their fans to send in.
More recently, Da Buzz worked on single “Show You Love” with Russian DJ Anton Ishutin last year. Their latest release is single “Slow It Down,” for which a music video was released at the beginning of this month.
