We caught up with the incredible LAVERN at the Nexus Lounge Miami during his debut appearance at Miami Music Week.

At just 23, LAVERN is fast becoming one of the most exciting names in dance music. With hundreds of millions of streams and a sound that blends euphoric storytelling with club-ready energy, he’s already made his mark on the global scene. The Dutch-born artist recently landed his first Las Vegas residency with Tao Group and is set to take over the EDC Vegas mainstage in 2025—a meteoric rise for someone who was studying law just a few years ago.

He arrived in Miami fresh off performances in Mexico City and Guadalajara. “I played my first show here in Miami yesterday,” he said. “Great parties. I love it here.” Although it wasn’t his first time in the city, it was his first time experiencing the legendary Miami Music Week.

LAVERN also shared how surreal it felt to secure his Vegas residency. “It’s insane. It’s such a dream come true,” he told us. “For a lot of DJs, it’s a dream to play in Las Vegas—legendary clubs, pool parties… it’s always a vibe.”

We also got into his recent tour of India, where he supported Martin Garrix in a stadium packed with 45,000 fans. “It was my first time playing in a stadium,” he said. “The energy was crazy. People jumping around… it was incredible.”

When asked about musical influences, he named Avicii as a major inspiration and gave props to John Summit for blending club and emotional vibes in a way he really connects with.

LAVERN’s honesty was refreshing when we asked about criticism: “I don’t really care what other people think,” he said. “I just make my own music. If people like it, great—if not, they don’t have to listen. I just do what I love.” As for his legacy? “Joy and happiness,” he said. “That’s what’s in my music—color, emotion, and good feelings.”
