Norwegian Sensation STISEMA: Spinning His Way into EDM Stardom

At the Nexus Lounge, DJ Ron from Nexus Radio sat down with Norwegian electronic artist STISEMA for an energetic and insightful conversation that traced his rise from small-town beginnings to global dance floors. With more than 50 million streams to his name, STISEMA has become known not just for playing music, but for creating high-impact, feel-good experiences that connect instantly with audiences.

Hailing from a quiet part of Norway, STISEMA spoke candidly about how stepping into a major music city felt like unlocking new possibilities. His journey began early—at just 15 years old—when a love for house music turned into hands-on DJing. That passion quickly led him into the finals of international DJ competitions, pushing him toward music production and setting the foundation for what would become a fast-rising career.

A major breakthrough arrived in 2016 with the release of “Hold On,” a debut track that climbed to the top of Norway’s viral Spotify chart. For STISEMA, it was a defining moment—proof that saying yes to opportunity and trusting instinct could open doors far beyond expectations. Since then, his momentum has only accelerated.

Musically, STISEMA has carved out a distinctive sound that fuses ’90s-inspired energy with modern production—uplifting basslines, infectious grooves, and a playful sense of nostalgia. Drawing inspiration from artists like Marlon Hoffstadt and Patrick Topping, he blends past and present into tracks built for movement and joy. He also expressed excitement about the future of production, particularly the creative possibilities emerging from AI, stem separation, and advanced looping tools.

Technology has played a key role in his evolution. STISEMA reflected on the shift from CDs to USBs and how modern tools now allow DJs to manipulate vocals, drums, and melodies in real time. Rather than replacing creativity, he sees technology as expanding it—opening endless ways to experiment and reshape sound.

Collaboration has been another cornerstone of his journey. From working with BK to producing tracks with Sacha Harland, STISEMA continues to cross genres and generations. His recent remake of “Wiggle Wiggle” with Bassjackers and The Outhere Brothers is a standout example, racking up over 500,000 Spotify streams in just two weeks.

Despite hearing his tracks repeatedly in the studio, STISEMA joked that getting tired of them would happen “very fast”—a lighthearted moment that underscored his genuine love for the process. That passion fuels his constant experimentation and his commitment to keeping the bass heavy and the vibes high.  Listen to the full interview below
