Where trance soars and techno pulses, a revitalized sound comes alive. Techno Trance marks the first-ever collaboration between global trance icon Armin van Buuren and techno frontrunner and Drumcode label boss Adam Beyer, bringing together two of electronic music’s defining voices on a single record.
The release not only fuses their distinct styles but also highlights the intertwined roots of trance and techno. The track revisits a three-decade legacy while offering a fresh perspective for today’s dancefloors, creating a bridge between past and present that resonates with fans of both genres.
Techno Trance is a rework of Dutch producer D-Shake’s 1992 classic “Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now),” a track that was both futuristic and genre-defying at the time. Originally driven by mechanical 909 beats and hypnotic riffs, it embodied an era when techno, acid house, and early trance freely crossed paths.
Armin and Adam’s 2025 take pays homage to that spirit while enhancing it with modern production. The track combines Armin’s euphoric synths and uplifting breakdowns with Adam’s powerful kicks and hypnotic percussion, delivering a cutting-edge sound for today’s clubs and festivals.
“Techno Trance still hits hard after 30 years,” says Armin van Buuren. “Reworking it with Adam let us revive the spirit of that era in a 2025 jacket, connecting a new generation on the dancefloor with our combined signature sounds. I was so excited by the reaction—it shows that when you take risks and explore beyond genre boundaries, fans are ready to embrace it.”
Adam Beyer echoed the sentiment: “Playing the track back-to-back with Armin and seeing both trance and techno fans connect instantly was incredible. It shows that great music goes beyond genres and eras, and the energy speaks for itself. Moments like that remind me why we do this—seeing people from different scenes come together through the power of music is truly special.”
The track premiered during the pair’s back-to-back set at A State of Trance 2025 in Rotterdam, immediately becoming a staple in both artists’ performances. Its crossover appeal demonstrates how fans and DJs alike are once again embracing music without rigid boundaries, just as they did in the early ’90s.
To further extend the concept, Armin and Adam designed a limited-edition T-shirt featuring a mirrored “Techno Trance” graphic: flip it, and either genre takes the spotlight while the energy remains unchanged. The shirt is available exclusively via the Armada Music webshop.
