Ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik will tell the story of his life so far in a new autobiography, Zayn, set to be published November 1st via Penguin Random House.
The book will blend personal stories, thoughts, drawings and never-before-seen personal photographs of the 23-year-old former One Direction member. Malik will touch on his childhood in Bradford, England, his rise to fame as a member of One Direction and transition into a solo artist.
“I’m going to show you as much as I can so that you can judge me on my own terms, not on what the press or anyone else says,” Malik says in the opening pages of the tome.
Malik began his career as a contestant on the U.K. X-Factor, where he was eventually paired with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to form One Direction. Though the group finished third, they quickly became one of the biggest bands in the world. They had a string of hits including What Makes You Beautiful and Little Things and filled stadiums around the world. But their fans were shattered in 2015 when Malik decided to quit, leading to the disintegration of the band.
Malik has since found success as a solo artist, releasing his first album, Mind of Mine, earlier this year. Also for a solo artist, his single ‘Pillowtalk’ has blasted its way to #1 on the chart on his debut single.
