In admittedly a bit of a head-scratcher, given some of the bad publicity (and also stiff competition) David Guetta has received, the French DJ and producer has walked away from this year with a few accolades.
Billboard has named Guetta their Top Dance/Electronic Artist of the Year. His single “Hey Mama” sits in the number 3 spot of “Hot Dance/Electronic Songs” and the number 1 spot of “Dance/Electronic Digital Songs.” Additionally, “Listen” was named “the No. 1 Top Dance/Electronic Album of the year,” as cited in Your EDM.
Guetta even made it on to Billboard’s Hot 100 list for 2015, which pulls the most popular songs from all genres throughout the year.
Your EDM reports: “The highest ranked EDM track on the chart epitomized the tropical house trend of 2015: the Felix Jaehn remix of OMI‘s “Cheerleader” hit #11. Following closely at #16 is “Lean On,” the Major Lazer, DJ Snake and MØ track that’s also Spotify’s most streamed song of all-time. “Where Are Ü Now”, the Justin Bieber-assisted Jack Ü single, comes in right behind at #19. Other songs with top spots are the David Guetta, Afrojack, Nicki Minaj and Bebe Rexha song “Hey Mama” at #31, the DJ Snake spin of “You Know You Like It” by AlunaGeorge at #59, the Robin Schulz edit of “Waves” by Mr. Probz at #95 and the Calvin Harris and Disciples collaboration “How Deep Is Your Love” rounding out the list at #100″.
