Events to Look Out For at ADE 2024

Amsterdam Dance Event 2024 is nearly here, so it’s time to start planning your hectic calendar. With so many incredible events to attend over just four days, we thought we’d take the time to spotlight our most anticipated speakers.

Wednesday

Wednesday is looking set to be the perfect opportunity for indie artists to gain some useful insight into the current industry. Starting off with Beyond Streaming: Unlocking new revenue opportunities for artists, you’ll be able to hear a panel of experts from the likes of Bandcamp and MassiveMusic discussing the new and innovative ways that artists are making money in 2024.

Following that up, you can head on over to The State of Independence in 2024 and Beyond. With a direct focus on how to finance your work as an indie artist, allowing you to maintain autonomy in your creativity, this panel is a must-see for those looking to really break the creative mold and explore innovative and original approaches to music.

And, after all that shop-talk, why not finish your first day with something a little more laid back by checking out 20 years of Tomorrowland: How to Rise and Stay on Top. After all, everyone loves a success story!

Thursday

For your Thursday lineup, we recommend a more eclectic selection.

From Niche to Next Level, featuring speakers Indira Paganotto (Artist), Ilja Reiman (founder at Multigroove), and Reza Fathi (founder at R&M Events), this panel is perfect for anyone looking to get their foot in the door with a smaller community before taking their work more mainstream.

If you’re looking for something with a little more focus in the broader culture, then Celebrating the UNESCO Status for Berlin Techno, is an event for you.

Alternatively, if you want something a little more industry-focused, then why not try Making Music Unreal – How Real-Time Game Engines are Revolutionising Artist Shows and Fan Experiences? This talk from Epic Games will be the perfect place to get a look into the future of live-show technology and how graphical breakthroughs could empower musicians to create bigger, bolder experiences.

Friday

If you’re looking for down-to-earth and practical advice, then Friday has got you covered. From Fraud in Music Streaming – a talk focused on how to find and fight the ever more advanced fraud that’s currently sweeping the music streaming industry – to Bandcamp – Essential Insider Knowledge, Friday is certainly the day to bring your notepad and keep your ears open.

In particular, we’d like to share a talk presented by HandicapNL on the Best Practices for Accessible Festivals. For anyone looking to learn more about how to run an inclusive and welcoming festival, this should be an incredible resource.

Saturday

Saturday morning, Tina Davis (president of EMPIRE) will take to the stage for a keynote and Q&A, which will discuss what it means to have a global music industry and what the future of that industry could and should look like for all involved.

Keeping on that theme, the afternoon will also feature a talk on The Future of Clubs and Venues as well as a discussion on Understanding U.S. Dance Radio, both of which will provide great chances to learn more about the current and future shape of music culture.

Of course, all of these are just a handful of the fascinating talks that will be taking place at this year’s ADE. For more information about ADE 2024, you can head over to their website or keep a close eye on Nexus where we’ll be bringing you all the latest from the world of dance.
