Joining us at the Nexus Lounge, Amsterdam, we spoke with Manyfew about their music style, recent work, and the future.
Known for their upbeat dance tracks, Swedish brothers turned DJ Duo ManyFew are one of the most interesting EDM acts in the space right now. With incredible hits like “Out of My Head,” “Keep On Rising,” and “Hold On,” it’s no surprise that their audience is growing by the day.
The pair has certainly been on a wave of success lately with their track “RAW,” which features on the UK’s hit drama series Sherwood. They also had an incredible opportunity to perform in Stockholm alongside iconic ABBA session guitarist Janne Schaffer. They noted that that was a particularly proud moment as their parents – who have always supported their musical ambitions – sat in the stadium watching on with pride.
When asked about their advice to younger musicians, the duo echoed a sentiment many artists would agree with: ” Stay true to yourself.” While it takes a lot of hard work to find success, the best music you produce will always come from you and your tastes.
“Stick to what you love and also try to explore new things but you need to go through your own DNA to stay true.”
Discussing the future of their music, the duo noted how important it feels to balance commercial tracks with that big room sound, describing their music as a blend of the two.
“We always try to learn new things and, when we’re in the studio, we are experimenting with different sounds and styles… We are very open minded guys in the studio.”
Artists can take inspiration from all sorts of things and while many will point to other artists, places can have just as powerful an influence. That’s how it is for ManyFew as they say New York city in particular, with its blend of cultures and wonderful metropolitan vibes, is an amazing place to work on music.
Fans of ManyFew in the Chicago area got an exciting hint about the future. While the duo made no mention of plans, they said that they’d love to visit Chicago to explore the area that birthed so many legends of House music. Here at Nexus we’ve definitely got our fingers crossed.
