Groove, Grit & Good Vibes: Inside the World of Bobby from Bobby & Djenko

The warm and welcoming energy of the Nexus Lounge created the perfect backdrop for an upbeat and candid conversation between DJ Ron and Bobby, one half of the fast-rising Belgian DJ duo Bobby & Djenko. Known for their groovy house beats and feel-good sets, the duo has quickly built a reputation for spreading pure dance-floor joy. While his partner Djenko couldn’t attend due to work commitments, Bobby carried the flag with charisma, humor, and passion.

Describing Amsterdam as “cozy… I love it,”  Bobby & Djenko shared how the city’s atmosphere fuels creativity. He even laughed about one of his favorite local experiences—grabbing a croquette from a vending machine, embracing the quirky culinary traditions that make the city unforgettable.

When DJ Ron touched on the evolution of DJ culture over the decades, Bobby—still only 23—spoke with surprising reverence. Though he and Djenko learned on digital gear, he believes deeply in understanding the roots: “It’s really important to know the turntables… the techniques are legendary in the music scene.” His appreciation for the past strengthens his craft and respect for those who paved the way.

Despite their young age, Bobby & Djenko have an impressive catalog waiting in the wings. “Loads of unreleased music in our SoundCloud list,” Bobby teased, hinting that big things are coming. Their creative strategy? Avoid perfectionism by setting timers on each track. “Being creative is hard sometimes… but we put timers on every track to force creativity.”

The conversation took a playful turn when asked what a Bobby & Djenko-branded cereal might taste like—without hesitation, he answered “chocolate… because it never disappoints.” His charm and lightheartedness balanced seamlessly with moments of wisdom.

Reflecting on their major career milestones, Bobby & Djenko highlighted their return to Tomorrowland as truly transformative. “Being back at Tomorrowland feels so unreal and gives you a lot of motivation.” Experiences like these solidify their dreams and prove they’re on the right path.

Bobby & Djenko also shared thoughtful advice for young producers: don’t let labels or opinions derail you. “Music has to be high quality, but it’s always an opinion… don’t listen too much to labels.” For him, authenticity is the heartbeat of longevity.
