During a lively session at the Nexus Lounge ADE edition held at KEF Space, we caught up with rising music producer and DJ, Soleil Carrillo. This was Soleil’s second time at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), but his first time diving into the world of interviews. The excitement was palpable as Soleil shared the essence of his musical journey and what lies ahead for this promising artist.
Soleil, who thrives on sharing his love for music with audiences, began producing music in 2019 and took up DJing a year later. Fast forward to today, Soleil has already amassed over 200,000 streams on Spotify and has performed his electrifying house music across international stages in the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada. Notably, Soleil holds a residency on The Housecrunch Radio Show with Terri B!
Reflecting on his experiences at ADE, Soleil enthused, “I’m DJing twice, so I’m really looking forward to that. Playing some Disco House tonight at BlendXL, and on Saturday at Nexus DSM with darker tunes. It’s all about meeting industry folks and gaining expertise as a young artist.” This highlight is a peek into Soleil’s insatiable drive to connect with people through music and refine his craft.
What stands out is Soleil’s appreciation for high-quality sound. In a conversation about the importance of sound in music, Soleil remarked, “Oh my goodness, it’s one of the top, most important things. I wouldn’t be able to make music as well as I do without really high-quality output.” This commitment to ensuring an immersive audio experience speaks volumes about his dedication.
Soleil’s musical roots trace back to high school, with Daft Punk opening his world to electronic music and his father, also involved in the music industry, mentoring him along the way. Through this familial influence, Soleil honed his skills, creating captivating tracks that blend deep grooves with vibrant optimism, leaving listeners happier and more energized.
For those who are just starting out in music, Soleil offers sage advice: “Don’t be afraid to put stuff out, even if it’s not the best product you can do. Exposure is everything.” This belief in growth through exposure and critique has played a pivotal role in his journey.
Looking ahead, Soleil is excited about releasing a track with Terry B. and continuing to produce and explore new collaborations. His story is one of passion, growth, and a love for music that spans continents and genres.
