‘Grease is the Word,’ at least according to Jessie J!
In a Billboard video exclusive, Jessie J took us behind the scenes of recording the opening song to Fox’s “Grease: Live” special. This new adaption of the classic, dare I say original, high school musical will be airing on January 31st and features Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit in the starring roles of Sandy and Danny (roles made famous around the world by Olivia Newton John and John Travolta back in the day). Vanessa Hudgens, Joe Jonas, and Carly Rae Jepsen will also be featured.
In anticipation of the big night, reports Billboard, Jessie J says, “There’s no pressure like being the first one on stage. I love that rush of the nerves I’m going to get, I just feel very honored and very lucky that I’ve been asked to experience something like this.”
The British singer says she’s aiming to keep pretty close to the original melody of the song, but definitely has plans to add her own flair. “I’ve definitely kind of thrown in what I kind of like to do,” she says. There’s nothing like a fresh spin on an old classic!
