Reddit’s r/EDM has conducted a survey to find out who the most popular DJs are, after a total of 572 people voted creating a total of 2860 votes towards 425 different DJs.
The /r/edm subreddit has chosen their 100 favorite DJs from around the world. The grading system they used was 5 points for a voter’s first choice pick, 4 points for 2nd place, 3 points for 3rd place and so forth. The results are in and they’re fairly unsurprising. Martin Garrix has topped the leader board at number 1, followed by The Chainsmokers and Porter Robinson.
A few changes have taken place since last year, with 24 DJs placed in the 2015 top 100 not making the this time around. #11-#20 sees a plethora of stars including Dillon Francis, Deadmau5, DJ Snake, Zedd, and Tiësto. Calvin Harris and Diplo both sit just inside the top 30 at #28 and #30 overall, respectively, while Avicii is left feeling a little lonely at #31. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are listed at the #56 spot instead of the #1 location like last year’s DJ Mag Top 100 list.
While polling over such a large scale demographic, it is expected that DJ rating would be unbiased, but the comments section showed some serious disagreements. After all, everyone has their own taste in music and a poll of a few hundred people does not really make up for the opinions of everyone.
