Challenges Ahead

Despite its continued popularity, the documentary highlights concerns about Ibiza’s accessibility. “The thing is about Ibiza, it was never really meant to be the pinnacle of club culture in any way, shape, or form, but it turned into that,” Carl Cox remarks in the film. He laments the rising costs, noting, “Back in the day you just bought a ticket to go in the club and that was it. Now it’s like there’s no more for GA, you have to buy a VIP ticket.”

Danny Whittle, founder of IMS Ibiza, echoes these sentiments: “The prices have gone up considerably in a lot of venues, which is a real shame. It’s affected tourism, but the energy to visit Ibiza is still there. We’re breaking records with the number of visitors, even if they tend to stay for shorter periods due to costs.”
