As a significant up-and-coming artist, Allegra is well-placed to make a big splash with her latest single, ‘Rain’.’ Describing it as a song “about finding beauty and strength within the chaos of life”,” she’s said that the recording process was “like therapy in the studio”, and after hearing it, we think we know what she means.
There’s something very personal about this track – the way leans into all of her pop influences while bringing a real strength of emotion. The end result is a song that’s catchy on a first listen and compelling on a second, making it an ideal blend of pop and electronic music.
To longer term listeners that should come as no surprise at all. One skill Allegra has shown time and time again throughout her career so far has been an almost uncanny ability to stay right on the pulse of current music. Just take a listen to her debut single “All About Us” from 2021 and it’s not surprising that she found quick success in her home country of the UK.
She’s also been quite the collaborator, working with artists like DJ R3HAB and DJ Alok, helping her to bring her music to new audiences. Her 2023 remix of Tiësto’s “Round & Round” also showed just how versatile her musical skill set is, bringing a unique sound both to her original work and to other people’s creative visions.
When discussing the artists she’s been listening to recently, Allegra noted that she’d been really into pop mega sensation Taylor Swift, referencing Swift’s “incredible storytelling“. It could be a coincidence, but that love of deeply personal storytelling through music certainly seems to have had an influence over another of Allegra’s latest projects: her debut EP Unset Love Letters Vol.1.
Released in September last year – featuring ‘Rain’ as well as three other singles – the EP provides a tight, concentrated example of all her greatest music strengths in one place. To put it simply, it has everything. The emotions are high, the beats are catchy.
Still, while ‘Strangers’ may have been the biggest hit of the four on release, ‘Rain’ stands out from the rest of the EP as something special. Where the other three tracks are bright and joyful, ‘Rain’ feels just that little bit darker – intoxicating almost. It’s an excellent track and it’s the perfect place to end the first part of this project.
So, we hear you asking, what about Unsent Love Letters Vol.2.
On that count, we have excellent news, as Allegra is currently working hard on a second Unsent Love Letters EP. To learn more about the EP, its writing and its themes, as well as a new dance single, make sure to read the full Q&A below.
How would you describe your music to new listeners?
I’d describe my music as a blend of emotive pop with electronic influences, offering a mix of heartfelt lyrics and infectious beats. Whether it’s a dance anthem or a more vulnerable ballad, my goal is to connect with listeners emotionally while keeping the energy high. It’s music you can dance to but also feel deeply.
What are your biggest goals/dreams as an artist?
My main goal is to keep making music that feels real and connects with people on a deeper level. Working with talented collaborators, experimenting with new sounds, and growing as an artist are what I’m most focused on right now.
What’s the proudest moment of your career so far?
There have been so many amazing moments, but having my music remixed by legends like Tiësto and Alok was a real “pinch me” moment. Another proud milestone was releasing Unsent Love Letters Vol.1, where I got to explore a more personal and vulnerable side of my artistry.
You’ve talked before about inspirations such as Rihanna and Beyoncé. How do you think their work has influenced yours, and, in a similar sense, is there anything you hope future artists will take away from your music?
Rihanna and Beyoncé taught me the power of authenticity and versatility. They’ve shown that you can be strong, vulnerable, and completely yourself all at once. From Rihanna’s effortless cool to Beyoncé’s commanding stage presence, they’ve influenced my approach to music and performance.
I hope future artists take away the message that it’s okay to be raw and honest in their art. Vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s where true connection happens.
Which artists have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been really into Taylor Swift for her incredible storytelling and Meghan Trainor for her knack for creating empowering, feel-good anthems. Both of them are so inspiring when it comes to songwriting—they make it look effortless! And let me let you in on a little secret: I’m absolutely obsessed with ABBA. Their melodies, harmonies, and timeless energy are something I always go back to when I need a bit of musical inspiration.
What was the inspiration behind ‘Rain’?
‘Rain’ is about finding beauty and strength within the chaos of life. It’s a metaphor for those moments when challenges feel overwhelming, but they also lead to clarity and growth. I wrote it during a period of deep reflection, wanting to capture that sense of emotional release—where pain can transform into something freeing and uplifting. It’s about embracing the storm and knowing that there’s always something beautiful on the other side of it.
Can you tell us a little about the creative process and your experience working on it?
The process for ‘Rain’ was like therapy in the studio. Every session felt like a conversation with myself, processing feelings I hadn’t fully confronted before. It became a form of release, and through that, the song evolved. It’s amazing how the music helped me navigate through those complex emotions, and in a way, the track became a part of my emotional healing.
Can you tell us a little about what you’re working on at the moment and what to expect from you in the future?
I’m currently working on Unsent Love Letters Vol. 2, which will dive deeper into the themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. The next chapter will show a more powerful, enlightened version of me, which I’m really excited about. Plus, a new dance single is on the way that I can’t wait for everyone to hear!
If you had one message for all the people who love your work, what would it be?
Thank you for letting my music be a part of your story. Every stream, comment, and messages mean the world to me. Always remember that you’re stronger than you think, and no emotion is too big to overcome.
