We caught up with Belgian DJ Yves V in the Technics pop-up space at the Nexus Lounge during Amsterdam Dance Event 2024. Fresh off a set at Tomorrowland Brazil, the DJ sat down with Nexus for the first time to discuss his legendary V Sessions and play a quick game of our Nexus Take 5 Series.
Since starting as a DJ at the age of 15, Belgium’s Yves V has blazed a trail through the electronic music scene. With consistent appearances in the DJ Mag Top 100 rankings over the last decade, Yves has solidified his place among the industry’s most respected names. His captivating big-room sound has earned support from some of the most prominent players in dance music, including David Guetta, Afrojack, and Armin van Buuren, while his music fills the playlists of top DJs worldwide.
Beyond the mainstage, Yves has curated his own V-Sessions brand, showcasing his talent for blending top-tier production with his deep passion for music. His V-Sessions events have become legendary, both at Tomorrowland and in global clubbing hotspots like Ibiza, where he has introduced new talent and collaborated with dance music’s biggest stars.
Yves’ dynamic approach to music and performance has seen him perform across continents, with headline shows in Brasil, Indonesia, and the USA, and his remixing prowess has earned him placements on releases from iconic names like P!nk and Timbaland.
Getting into our interview, Yves shares that he's excited to be at ADE and, especially, to be hosting a V Sessions party during the festival: "Tonight is all about friends having a good time."
One track we’re definitely expecting to hear him play is his most recent release, “All Of The Lights”—a dark and grungy big-room banger released via HEXAGON and featuring DJ Joyse. When we ask Yves how this collaboration came about, he shares that he got the vocal sample from a colleague and decided to get his input after he wasn’t satisfied with his initial mix. “It’s a bit darker, a bit slower,” says Yves, “but I’m really happy with the release.”
A regular at the Nexus Lounge, we asked Yves to answer a few questions as part of our Nexus Take 5 Series. Here are a couple things we learned about Yves: his celebrity crush growing-up was Yasmine Bleeth from the iconic show Baywatch, and his current TV obsession is The Perfect Couple starring Nicole Kidman.
Yves V also shared the message he hopes his fans take away from his shows: “It’s really about enjoying life. Forget all your problems wherever you are, close your eyes and enjoy the moments. There are enough problems in the world, so just think about the nice positive vibes.” Count us inspired.
