Jessie J was forced to cancel shows in Denmark, Belgium, and Bristol last week after being admitted to the hospital for surgery. She has had some health issues in the past, including an irregular heartbeat and a minor stroke at the age of 18. Though the British singer declined to provide details, she did reassure fans that both her heart and her voice were unaffected.
But now that the surgery is over and she is convalescing, everyone is eager to know how she is doing. Unfortunately, Jessie J says, not so great. In an Instagram post of her arm attached to IV drips, she explained: “I am not ok… I am in a lot of pain. But I’m working on it with the doctors. We all have our moments and one of mine is now. Being human sucks when you are non stop and your body says NOPE not right now.”
She then later explained, “After having an operation earlier this week, I am unfortunately suffering a longer recovery time than expected due to some problems that have occurred post the operation. I have been medically advised to cancel my shows this weekend. I am simply in no way to perform.”
Jessie J has five upcoming shows, but no word yet about whether she will be able to perform.
Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery, and if you’re looking for a Jessie J fix, you can still see her as a judge on The Voice Australia, which was filmed several months ago for Channel 9.
