‘CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’ REMIX BY FREISCHWIMMER PEAKS

It is spring time; the earth looks lovely and charming; trees putting forth new leaves and beautiful flowers blooming this season. It is certainly the best season of the year in the US; but the radio landscape reminisces the summer hit ‘California Dreamin’ of the 60’s, which keeps us warm within with memories of the hot days and the warm nights.

Written by John Phillips and Michelle Philips, the best known version of ‘California Dreamin’ was rendered by ‘The Mamas & the Papas’ (of which, both were founding members), way back in 1965. The song is #89 in Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Through 50 years, the single has become a true classic to suit many occasions and adaptations; the best known being R.E.M, The Carpenters, Queen Latifa (on the 2004 The Dana Owens Album), Wes Montgomery, and The Beach Boys. After all these years, the classic still holds sway among the masses.

Now, the impressive Deep House version of ‘California Dreamin’ by newcomer Sebastian Bernhardt, aka Freischwimmer, the 1960’s song has peaked at #2 of the US Billboard’s top 100 Dance Club songs. DJ Freischwimmer, with this version of ‘California Dreamin’ has made it into various radio and video charts, as well. For him, the number from 1965 is one of his all-time favorites “An incredibly great composition”, he says. A German, Freischwimmer loves the summer, for its lively yet quiet season. While the video clip takes us to the Flower Power era of the 60’s and 70’s, with the two protagonists from the urban Berlin environment dreaming about the sands of California, it is the mellifluous deep house of the artist who is emphasized in this respect.  The song is his debut single on Universal Music.
