Dillon Francis and Hardwell Lash Out At the DJ Top 100 List

For the past few days, the DJ Mag Top 100 list has been the talk of the town in the EDM world. While praise has been flowing through a few quarters, scorn too has raised on the published list!. While the DJ Mag Top 100 list has been confusing at times, it seems now that even the ranked DJs are getting confused on what the list is for.

Dillon Francis, who ranked in number 64 out of the 100 strong lineup, has unleashed on DJ Mag in the way of a video upload on Facebook and Twitter, where he says plain and simple that he is “confused”.

“Is it for best producer, is it for what you’ve achieved through the year or best DJ?” he rants on, visibly agitated and confused !!

Hardwell, on the other hand, one of the most championed DJs in the DJ Mag top 100 fan poll, who won the contest back in 2013 and 2014 and is a Rank 3 this year, ever got onstage at a recent Amsterdam Dance Event in support of his friend and collaborator Atmozfears. The Dutch producer and performer considers Atmozfears to be “a much better producer.”

“This guy doesn’t get a chance to play the big festivals,” he says. “He doesn’t get the chance, so he’s never gonna be on the f—ing list, so I say, f–k the DJ Mag.” He also expresses disappointment that his other signees, Dannic and Dyro, merely charted towards the bottom of the list at 70 and 93.

The results of the 2016 DJ Mag Top 100 fan poll were revealed Wednesday, with Martin Garrix crowning the list for the first time. Ironically, this is the first time, a hardcore DJ is topping the Top 100 DJs list !!
