The DJ rocking the Virtual Booth: Martin Jensen

THE TAKE 5 SERIES

Best known for 2016 single “Solo Dance,” Martin Jensen is a Danish DJ who has not let a global pandemic stop him from connecting with his fans; this summer the artist hosted virtual concerts, a series titled ‘Me, Myself, Online.’ Each bi-weekly concert featured a unique stage in Denmark. Livestreamed on streaming platform Twitch, his concerts have been enjoyed by over a million different viewers. He even streams home DJ jam sessions, which have lasted a few hours each.

It is no surprise so many fans tune into his streams––Martin is a frequent entry into DJ Mag’s 100 best DJs annual poll. This year, he released single “Don’t Cry For Me,” a collaboration with fellow DJ Alok and singer Jason Derulo.

His fans enjoy both his original singles as well as his remixes. Earlier this year, the DJ released a remix of “Day ‘N’ Nite” that boasts over thirty million streams across listening platform. Martin’s most recent release is a remix of Denis Coleman’s “Don’t Wait.”

To learn more about the artist, including which industry friends he’d take with him to the Amazon Rainforest for a year, check out our interview with him below:

Q: Before we dig in, tell us about your latest project.

Thanks for having me guys! We’ve been super busy throughout this crazy year with my ‘Me, Myself, Online’ virtual livestreams that we played from some super cool locations including the national stadium in Copenhagen, where we played the first and last editions, as well as taking it to a hangar at Billund Airport and Forest Tower – it was a way to spend a sensational summer and celebrating the beauty of my home country.

Q: What cocktail (or drink) recipe is getting you through the pandemic?

A gin and tonic, always!

Q: What’s the last song you listened to thats not yours?

It was actually one of my friend’s songs, he is about to go into the music business and wanted me to check out his first track!

Q: What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done and would you do it again?

Living my life and jumping into being a full-time DJ and producer as my full time career – yes, I would do it all over again.

Q; If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

What is happening in Area 51?

Q: You must survive in the Amazon Rainforest for a year. Which 3 DJs or industry friends would you take with you and why?

Salvatore Ganacci so that he could be like Tarzan down there… then I’d take some artists who I wouldn’t be tired of listening to – that is a hard one to choose, I’m a social person so to decide three is difficult!

Q: Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?

Rocket Racoon from Guardians Of The Galaxy!

Q: What's the first live show that really blew your mind?

Magtens Korridorer, they’re a danish anthemic, rock band from Denmark.

Q: Do you sing in the shower? What track do you sing that your fans won’t guess?

I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, so it would be one of her tracks that might surprise people!

Q: And finally, what’s on your Netflix watch list?

I’ve literally just finished Suits, so good!
