We caught up with James Mass from RIP Youth at The Nexus Lounge Virtual, held at the Roof at theWit in Chicago. They spoke to us about their new single, “It’s A Vibe,” and how they feel virtual events are going to make an impact on the industry in the future. Plus, they took part in our Take-5 Series.
RIP Youth is a trio of producers featuring American and Australian artists. Best friends Dylan Bowes and James Mass formed the original group. When they released their most iconic track yet, “Bombs Away,” in 2020, they worked with the Australian DJ duo Bombs Away to produce it. That connection added the third member of RIP Youth, Tommy Shades of Bombs Away.
RIP Youth also told us about their new track, “It’s A Vibe.” “It is a song about being enamored with someone when you think they are cool. They give you some feeling that you wish that you have what they have… You know that if they stayed in your life for long enough, some of it would rub off on you… it is stealing someone’s energy to make a hit.”

RIP Youth says that after the pandemic, virtual events are set to continue having an impact. Producers feel amazed at how quickly the industry caught up with the technology and increased access to artists and fans.
