Joining us at the AOC Gaming Interview Space at the Nexus Lounge at Miami Music Week 2024, Dark Intensity spoke with us about his favorite studio setup, recent tracks, and the lyrics that still resonate with him today.
South Californian DJ/producer Dark Intensity is an actual house powerhouse, blending genres with a spirit and style. From future house to slap house and even piano house, he stands out amongst the crowd for his incredible creativity and captivating music.
Perhaps best known for his outstanding remixes, including U2’s “Love is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way” and Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” he’s won multiple awards for his work and continues to build his ever-growing fanbase.
When talking about his approach to making music, we were really curious about the specifics of his setup. Many artists opt for a dual monitor setup, giving them more screen space, but Dark Intensity says he prefers to use a single, large monitor.
And what’s he been using that monitor for? In his own words:
“I’ve been collaborating with different artists. I had a couple of tracks released recently. I have an original track called ‘Oops Baby’. I released that with another artist. I have also released an original one called ‘Synergy’. That one really takes me back to the old days of trance - the early 2000s techno trancy era.”
Here at Nexus, an announcement like that never fails to get us excited, and we can’t wait to see what Dark Intensity has in store.
Digging into his inspirations, as part of our Take5 series of quirky questions, we wanted to know which song lyric resonated with him the most.
“There is a song lyric - it’s from a track by Seven Lions. It’s a song called Places I Belong. It’s just one particular line - ‘can you take me back to places I belong?’ And to me, it really takes you back and gives you the nostalgic feeling. It encapsulates a moment of when you were just very happy in a particular time and place and I’ve really been feeling that track lately.”
He also added that it’s quite similar in genre to his recent release “Synergy.”
