Joining us at the Level Awards space, in the Nexus Lounge, Miami we spoke with Mia Moretti about her experiences in L.A. versus New York, her time at Miami Music Week, and her 2024 releases.
A DJ, producer, songwriter, and all-around powerhouse of talent, Mia Moretti has been creating music tailored toward premium events for over two decades, and she just keeps getting better. Her contributions to the music industry, from her early days in Los Angeles to her current residency in Las Vegas, have solidified her as a respected figure in the industry. Whether she’s DJing at a Las Vegas strip residency or crafting the soundtracks for high-profile events such as the Barbie premier or Dua Lipa’s MET afterparty, her songwriting skills are widely recognized, as is her talent for reworking tracks and reinventing styles.
After starting in Los Angeles, Moretti moved to New York ten years ago, where she stayed until 2019, before moving back to Los Angeles, where she lives today. Although New York City was, in her own words, “the best city in the world,” it also came with some unique problems, ultimately leading to the move. As she puts it:
“New York is pretty non-stop and I felt like I was a little bit on the hamster wheel. I wanted to check in with myself and ask myself am I still doing what I love? Do I want to reassess or is there a way to be more engaged in what I’m doing and be more passionate about it? Is there another way I could be doing this that’s going to inspire me more? So I just needed that switch up to reground myself and moving to L.A. gave me the chance to step out and assess.”
Of course, L.A. and New York are both amazing music hubs, but few places can compare to Miami in terms of the sheer breadth of musical influences. Describing it as “maybe the best place for music in the world,” Moretti noted that she’d love to live in Miami and could see herself moving there.
As always, we were excited to find out what Moretti has come out with, especially given her recent shift from DJing towards producing. As it turns out, 2024 is a big year for fans of Mia Moretti as she’s releasing new music left, right, and center. Her upcoming releases include remixes of DJ Minx, KILIMANJARO, and Cicco, each with a unique twist that is sure to make it into your summer soundtrack. Keep an eye out for these releases, as they are set to redefine the music scene in 2024.
