Joining us at the Phillips Space in the Nexus Lounge Miami edition, Mojave Grey spoke with us about their experiences playing up and down the United States, their unique style of desert dance music, and their upcoming debut album.
From their name to their music, Mojave Grey is a California duo through and through. Combining Zander Bleck’s passionate vocals and Michael Pozzi’s multi-instrumental skillset, Mojave Grey lives and breathes the soul of the desert, as can be seen in every aspect of their music, right down to the cover art.
Based in Joshua Tree, the pair has focused on innovating a new genre called “desert dance music.” A blend of rock, dance, and that unique Western style, their music draws on the pair’s roots to create something truly innovative within the EDM space. Perfect for those long summer afternoons, their style will transport you to that desert atmosphere and immerse you in a vibrant landscape of sound.
2024 is a big year for this Western-inspired duo. They’ll be dropping their debut album, and you’d better believe they’ve got something special in store for us.
The pair are still predominantly independent but are in talks with a Swedish label named LoudKult for their next single. Meanwhile, they’ll continue to play across the country, traveling from Jacksonville, New Mexico, to Salt Lake City, sharing their unique genre with new audiences, and building their remarkable style.
As if that wasn’t enough, the pair say they’re also shooting a movie in the California desert, although they couldn’t say much more. Fans can speculate as to where we’ll see them next, as Mojave Grey doesn’t plan to slow down any time soon.
Digging a little deeper into the roots of their original style, we learned that some of the primary inspirations for their music came from classic rock bands like The Who and Led Zeppelin, as well as more modern EDM such as Cassian and Rufus DeSole
Outside of music, the pair says their real passion is telling stories.
"There's so many different ways to tell stories now, but I think whether it's through music or through film or something, there's a lot to it."
