If you’ve been following our coverage over the last few months, you’ll know by now that, here at Nexus Radio, we couldn’t be more excited for ADE, and we’re not the only ones. Amsterdam’s dance community is gearing up to celebrate one of the most significant events on the EDM calendar, and that means many attractions throughout the city are preparing to see a massive influx of people. More excited than anybody, no doubt, are the folks over at ‘Our House,’ who’ve assembled an incredible program to celebrate four decades of EDM.
But what is Our House? And why is it so unique to the modern EDM scene?
An Immersive Museum of EDM History
Our House is arguably one of the most ambitious projects in EDM education today. Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Rembrandt district, this Museum features a wide variety of exhibits about the industry, the process of making the music we love, and the meaning and creative drive behind it. But, more than that, it’s a place to explore the genre’s roots and how it got where it is today.
If you’re a developing artist looking to understand more about the genre you know and love, then this is the best place to learn.
The 2022 ADE Exhibition
This year, Our House is partnering with the folks behind ADE to give you a complete genre history, stretching back four decades to the birth of EDM. The exhibits will feature special guest DJs, interactive experiences, and fantastic music. You’ll get to try out instruments and expand your knowledge in exhibits designed by deadmau5, Armin Van Buren, and the folks behind Ultra Music Festival. If you’re heading to ADE to develop your skills, this experience you won’t want to miss out on.
A 4D Culture Ride
There’s no better way to learn your history than by traveling back in time. Unfortunately, while ADE and Our House haven’t yet managed to perfect a time machine, they have built the next best thing.
The 4D culture ride is a fully immersive journey into the genre’s development, set to a soundtrack of your favorite EDM hits. With special appearances by artists and experts, this ride will have you learning in style. If only all education could be so memorable!
The World's Largest Analogue Sequencer
And as if all that wasn’t enough, the ADE exhibition will give you the chance to get your hands on a real piece of history – the RMBA-20.
Designed in 2018 by the Red Bull Music Academy folks, the RMBA-20 is the world’s largest analog music sequencer.
But don’t be intimidated. This excellent piece of gear might have taken 30 people to build, but fortunately, it only needs one person to operate. You’ll get the best training and guidance, so there’s no excuse to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
ADE is more than just a festival. It’s a chance for the entire community to come together to celebrate modern EDM’s fantastic culture. To commemorate that culture, we must look both to the past and future. With ADE labs, we can look at where the genre is going and how technology is helping to develop the EDM sound, while with projects like the Our House Museum, we can look back at how we got to where we are today.
So if you get the chance while in Amsterdam, check out this incredible Museum for a series of exhibits you won’t soon forget.
