Avicii performed his last scheduled show last weekend in style, playing out to a crowd of thousands at Ushuaïa Ibiza, officially his retirement from touring. Given the recurrent health issues which plagued Avicii throughout his touring career, his decision to indefinitely cease performing was, to many, an unsurprising one.
After his swan song, Avicii reiterated that his split from the decks does not mean an exodus from the studio in a letter to his fans via Instagram.
“This Sunday was my last show. But far from my last days in the world of music. Creating music is what makes me happy and I have gotten to know so many great people in my days of touring, seen so many amazing places and created endless of good memories. The decision I made might seem odd to some but everyone is different and for me this was the right one. Thank you to all my fans, my friends and family and everyone in the aviciicrew/family. This has been our journey together.”
The post featured an image of the Stories producer on stage at his final live gig, while explaining that he intends to continue to create music before finally thanking his fans for their continued support.
