The nonprofit Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, founded by DJ and producer Blond:ish, has announced a landmark partnership with booking and tour management platform Gigwell, introducing a next-generation sustainability toolkit—Eco-Rider 2.0—for artists, managers, and booking agents. The collaboration marks a major step toward making eco-conscious touring a new industry standard.
Originally launched in 2019, the Eco-Rider has already been adopted by more than 1,500 DJs and performers worldwide, helping prevent over 325,000 single-use plastic bottles and 425,000 cups from entering circulation, according to the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation.
With the rollout of Eco-Rider 2.0 through Gigwell’s integrated platform, artists can now opt in to a full-scale sustainability rider during the booking process. Once activated, the feature automatically embeds eco-requirements into artist contracts, encouraging promoters and venues to shift toward greener hospitality practices—such as eliminating single-use plastics backstage and front-of-house.
“When I started using the eco rider, 100 percent of my events were using plastic,” said Blond:ish in a statement. “Now I’m down to 20 percent. And not even just in the DJ booth, but the actual entire event is single-use plastic-free.”
Gigwell CEO Jeremie Habib added that the platform is uniquely positioned to scale this transformation through its all-in-one booking ecosystem, which includes venue-database routing, e-signature workflows, and digital contracting tools that already reduce paper waste across the touring process.
The Eco-Rider 2.0 toolkit expands on the original with educational resources, community networking spaces for artists and tour teams, and backend software integration that makes sustainability a frictionless part of tour logistics.
Among early supporters of the initiative are Sam Feldt, Madame Gandhi, Yulia Niko, and Mia Moretti, along with leading agencies such as EMPIRE, Dirtybird, and Protocol Agency.
