Joining us at the Phillips space, in the Nexus Lounge, Miami edition, we spoke with BoGriLZ about building up his record label, his experiences moving from Ukraine to the US as a child, and working with the incredible Markus Schultz.
BoGriLZ, born Bogdan Osipenko in Ukraine, is a multi-talented individual. He is not just a musician, but also a producer and a mixing engineer. His diverse skill set allows him to constantly innovate and bring something new to his music, a quality that his fans truly appreciate.
After completing an internship with EMI’s Water Music Publishing, he’s gone on to mix, master, and produce a small collection of singles over the last few years, along with his album Alt Universe, on which he collaborated with Christiano Jordano. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the record has now been picked up by Markus Schultz, a dream come true for many artists. In his own words:
"It's amazing to have the support from him."
BoGriLZ’s hard work over the past two years has been paying off. He has successfully built up his own record label, Termenl Records, and is working with a number of talented artists including Terrence Powers, Dark Dhalia, and Tom Freeze. This collaborative effort is building a unique roster of boundary-pushing artists, a testament to BoGriLZ’s vision and dedication.
Moving on to our Take5 segment, where we aim to as memorable questions you wouldn’t hear anywhere else, we kicked things off by asking about BoGriLZ’s most embarrassing childhood moment. As it turned out, BoGriLZ had quite the anecdote already prepared.
"So I'm an immigrant and when I came to the United States, we didn't really wear boxers. In Europe it was kind of a tighty whity type of thing… So my Mom, not knowing, went to the store and she thought she was buying me shorts, but they were boxers. So I wore boxers to school as shorts until the kids were like 'Buddy, you know that's underwear, right?"
And that wasn’t the only story he had to tell about his experience as a Ukrainian immigrant. When his family first came to the US, he says he left behind his favorite childhood toy – a stuffed dog. After weeks of crying, his grandmother sent it to him. Unfortunately, he had completely forgotten about it by the time it arrived.
