Brando: Dance Music Gives Your Life Momentum

presented by

If there’s one thing we love here at Nexus Radio, it’s the chance to sit down and chat with some of the most exciting talents in the EDM world, and this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Among the artists we spoke to this year was the incredible Californian Singer/Songwriter known as Brando. Best known for tracks like “Yes or No,” “Body,” and “All Night,” Brando has only been active in the industry for a few years, but in that short space of time, he’s already made quite a name for himself.

“I’m mainly a vocalist,” says Brando, “not a producer.” This remark is key to understanding his creative process because, as anyone who’s listened to Brando’s music will know, there is always a strong focus on exciting and original vocal tracks. In particular, he says he’s recently been working to bring more vocal layering into his songs to get the right sound.

As well as his vocals, he’s also been working to bring more guitar into his tracks as in his recent release “Saturday Night” and his upcoming “Sunday Monday”. He also says he’s potentially finding ways to include guitar in his club’s sets, giving his fans something special to look forward to.
Moving on to talking about his personal life and creative process, he stressed the importance of exercising and writing music to maintain good mental health.

"Working out every morning really helps me clear my mind and everything… afterward, I feel like your mind is clear, you could do so many things, and you have so much energy. But, pertaining to music, I just write every day and get inspired by random things. For example, you might be out, and maybe you're stressed about work or your relationship, and music's always there to pick you up."

All in all, it’s clear that Brando brings a great deal of energy to his creative process, but he seems to get just as much out of it. When asked to define EDM, he described it as “a beat-driven genre that’s mainly focused on giving energy to a situation”. Brando’s music certainly helps give us energy, and we can’t wait to see what amazing tracks he’ll put out next.
