Take5: Brando, The Vocals Behind Many of Your Favorite Songs

THE TAKE 5 SERIES

If you’ve ever heard “Body,” Loud Luxury’s hit song released in 2018, you’ve already enjoyed at least three minutes of Brando’s musical genius. He is the singer and songwriter behind the song, but his creative success doesn’t end there––his song “Look Into My Eyes,” released with Armada Music, dropped at the start of the decade and boasts tens of millions of streams since.

The American singer-songwriter’s style is a blend of dance music and pop, creating a club track you can also sing along to. This is clearly demonstrated by “Congratulations,” a Don Diablo song he featured on that made its way onto the U.S. Mediabase Dance Chart. Millions of music lovers across the country cranked up their car stereos to that one!

Many look upon Brando’s musical success and see a young artist making it big early in his career. But despite his young age, Brando has been in the industry for decades: his first concerts happened in his living room with his family as his audience! Childhood pictures posted on the artist’s social media complement the story––a younger version of him can be seen rocking it out on a drum set.

His single “Don’t Call Me” was released with Armada this September. It has been widely enjoyed globally––so much so that Galantis, a popular Swedish production duo, has already released a remix to it.

To learn more about the artist, including which fictional character he’d be, read the interview we had with him below:

Q: Before we dig in, tell us about your latest project.

My latest single “Don’t Call Me” just came out last Friday actually. The song is about being jaded over a past relationship and basically saying that if your ex ever tries to call you up that you won’t answer because you’re over it.

Q: What cocktail recipe is getting you through the pandemic?

I’ve always been a big fan of whiskey sours, but actually haven’t had too many since quarantine started!

Q: What is your first musical memory?

The first one that jumps to my mind was when I was little and I’d force my family to sit in the living room and watch me perform to Usher’s “Confessions” album. I’d wheel out one of those old fans and crank it up so the wind was blowing in my face just as in Usher’s videos back then

Q: Whats the most useless talent you have?

I play racquetball quite well, which is definitely completely useless!

Q: If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

How much taller would I have been if I ate my vegetables as a kid?

Q: You must survive in the Amazon Rainforest for a year. Which 3 DJs or industry friends would you take with you and why?

I’d bring Matoma because he can make a mean mimosa, Don Diablo because he would come equipped with masks for us already to be Covid safe, and Loud Luxury because I’ve known them for so long and can have so many laughs with them.

Q: Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?

Wolverine.

Q: Amsterdam, New York, or Tokyo?

Amsterdam.

Q: Do you sing in the shower?

I actually do sometimes, but way less often than probably most people would think!

Q: And finally, what on your Netflix watch list?

I’ve been told I need to watch Ratched, so that’s definitely on my to-do list.
