We caught up with Crystal Waters in the Hercules Space at the Nexus Lounge during Miami Music Week 2025. The dance music legend chatted with us about her award wins, her latest musical collaborations, and what’s next for her illustrious career.

Crystal Waters is an American singer and songwriter best known for her 1990s hits “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” and “100% Pure Love,” which helped define the house music scene for decades. With her distinctive voice and infectious melodies, she became a trailblazer for female artists in dance music. Waters’ career has earned her chart-topping success, multiple awards, and enduring respect in the music industry.

This year, Crystal is celebrating new milestones with the release of her latest single, “You & Me,” a collaboration with Swedish producers ManyFew. The track is already gaining strong momentum, and she shared that it’s part of a larger project — an album slated for release this fall. Crystal plans to keep the energy flowing all summer long with a steady stream of singles leading up to the full album drop.

During our conversation, Crystal reflected on her early struggles breaking into the dance music world, especially when R&B and hip-hop dominated the charts. Radio stations initially dismissed dance music as a passing trend, but her perseverance paid off, ultimately securing her legacy as a pioneer in the genre.

Beyond her latest music, Crystal recently received two major honors during Miami Music Week: the Female Icon Award and the EDMA Lifetime Achievement Award. She spoke about the powerful emotional impact of being recognized by her peers, especially hearing firsthand how she has inspired other artists throughout her career. “It makes you feel good knowing that I did something during my life that helped others,” she said.

Crystal also shared a bit about how her collaboration with ManyFew came to life — through her podcast “I Am House Radio,” where she consistently discovered and admired their work. Impressed by their musical style, she reached out, and the chemistry was instant, leading to multiple tracks for her upcoming album.
