Nearly a month after a gunman opened fire at the nearby Pulse nightclub, employees had a reason to celebrate as about 30 staffers were surprised with free tickets to Demi Lovato’s concert in the city on the 2nd of July, Saturday night. The Pulse employees were given a private suite to enjoy the show, and Nick and Demi also had a meet and greet with all the VIP guests.
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, during their Saturday stop of their “Future Now” tour, honored the 49 peole who were killed in the June 12 tragedy, as well as singer Christina Grimmie, who was shot and killed by a fan in Orlando just two days before the nightclub massacre.
The US pop stars, invited a man called Hank to the stage to lead a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives, saying, “Orlando, you’ve been through a lot. In the last month, you’ve had two shootings, one of which was the most deadly shooting in all of America’s history. I want to invite you to join us in praying to whatever God is to you, but I’m going to ask that we do this together, so when we pray together, we heal together… violence does not have the last word, but we, 10,000-strong, rise up to say that we, together, will let love win.”
They then welcomed singer R&B singer, Andra Day to the stage for an emotional rendition of Day’s song ‘Rise Up’. As they sang, the names of those killed at Pulse were shown on a screen behind them to remember them.
