This summer, 22-year-old singer Era Istrefi, went from complete obscurity in the U.S. to an all-out Internet sensation. Her international hit “Bonbon,” has reached close to 200 million plays on YouTube, and she’s clearly got the makings of a bonafide pop star, with attitude and talent to spare.
A bidding war between several major labels following ‘Bon’s unveiling ended with Era signing a lucrative deal with Sony Music Entertainment. She is now working on her debut album. In a candid interview with That Grape Juice, the star reveals her first album is album is already finished and that it has seven songs –
“The album has seven songs on it so far and so much of what I’m doing now is giving myself the space and time to explore new sounds and genres and write from a place of honesty. Things are complicated now because when I didn’t have the recording contract I have now when I wrote the songs that got me the deal so there’s a pressure that’s there that didn’t exist before. It’s exciting at the same time though because I can sense where the project is going. It feels…limitless.”
The name of the planned debut album has not been revealed yet by the singer.
