Fifteen Injured From Ceiling Collapse At Steve Aoki Concert

Concert goers are aware things can get out of hand at a Steve Aoki concert; with Steve Aoki widely known for his audience-interactive antics, which include cake-throwing, spraying crowds with champagne and jumping off stage on to a rubber raft with fans in between mixes.

But this time it was different. Steve Aoki concert-goers from the Norwegian Business School were in for a shock, when the ceiling of an Oslo concert venue where Aoki was set to perform, partly collapsed onto the concert crowd on Sunday, the 21st August. Initial reports from the police said fifteen people were injured among the 1700 attending the concert. There were no serious injuries though.

Authorities said a layer of plaster about 2cm thick fell from a 1 square metre area of the ceiling at the Sentrum Scene venue in the Norwegian city. Police evacuated the building immediately and cordoned off the area while fire officials secured the site.

In a series of tweets, Aoki said he was “saddened and shocked” by the collapse and hopes for a “speedy recovery” for those injured.
