The best way to understand an artist is always through their work and that couldn’t be more true for Dutch DJ and producer Mau P. Having released music across a handful of labels and explored a wide variety of styles he’s an artist whose work has developed a lot in the last few years and today we wanted to celebrate that.
In this article we’ll be taking a look at five tracks that have shaped the most recent era of his career, defining what his music represents today.
1. The Less I Know The Better
Starting with his latest single, “The Less I Know The Better” is an almost dreamlike track, combining that core club energy with all the warm vibes of a summer afternoon. If you’re looking for a simple, feel good dance track, then this one will almost certainly scratch that itch.
2. Gimmie That Bounce
Released in 2023, “Gimmie That Bounce” is on the complete other end of the spectrum. Where “The Less I Know The Better” blends a relaxed and joyous melody with a dance beat, “Gimmie That Bounce” is darker and far more surreal – exactly the kind of track you’d want to kick off the perfect Friday night.
3. MERTHER
Raising the energy and raising the bar, “MERTHER” dropped in late 2024 and if you’re looking for something with a slightly faster BPM and a whole lot more raw energy, then this is the perfect Mau P track for you.
It’s also something of a fan favourite with the artist even noting on release that it was one fans had been asking about for a long time, only able to hear ripped versions online. It’s not hard to see why this track caused such a fever as, along with being a great dance beat, it’s also a real earworm.

4. Receipts
Of course, it wouldn’t be right to talk about Mau P without discussing one of his incredible collaborations and out of that list, “Receipts” (feat. Gunna) stands out as a major achievement. In terms of style it’s an excellent fusion of Mau P’s EDM roots with Gunna’s smooth hip-hop vocals.
As a single it’s another endlessly listenable dance track but as a collaboration it really shows Mau P’s strength for combining styles and finding the best of all worlds.
5. Drugs From Amsterdam
And finally we absolutely have to talk about “Drugs From Amsterdam”, the track that kicked off and largely defined this phase of Mau P’s career. Before drugs from Amsterdam, Mau P had seen some success under the name Maurice West but with the release of Drugs From Amsterdam came a wave of popularity within techno and house that have skyrocketed him to success.
In no small part, the success of “Drugs From Amsterdam” comes from its memorable and unapologetic title, embracing a part of dance culture that often flies under the radar.
That’s not to say the track itself is anything less than a masterpiece however. The vocals are hypnotic, the drops perfectly timed and it has just the kind of industrial, countercultural feeling that will have you looking for your next rave in moments.
