From Y2K to A Global Pandemic: DaBuzz Has Seen It All

THE TAKE 5 SERIES

PER LIDEN FROM DABUZZ

Best known for 2003 single “Alive,” Swedish Eurodance/pop group DaBuzz boasts musical success both in their home country and across the Atlantic. DaBuzz has 15 Swedish hit singles and even a #1 Billboard Magazine Club hit in the United States. The latter they achieved when their 2000 single “Let Me Love You” was remixed by American producer Hex Hector.

DaBuzz was formed in 1999 with writers/DJs Per Lidén and Pier Schmid, and lead-singer Annika Thörnquist. Over two decades later the music has not stopped; in fact, they share in our interview with them that they are releasing a new single this month and working on an album to be released later this year.

Last year, they released latest single “Feel Your Love.” The song boasts tens of thousands of listens across streaming platforms. The entrancing sound of the EDM track is something fans can continue to eagerly expect from Da Buzz’s upcoming music.

To learn more about DaBuzz, including how they’ve managed to maintain their sanity during the pandemic, check out our interview with member Per Lidén below:

Q: Before we dig in, tell us about your latest project.

We just released our new single on January 29th, Waiting For Your Love. And have worked a lot in the studio this fall planning for an album later this spring.

Q: What’s keeping you sane during the pandemic?

We are actually spending more time with family and home. We have need touring constantly for 2 years before the pandemic so it’s been both nice and frustrating at the same time. We are both anxious to get out on the road again and have several festivals booked the coming summer.

Q: What is the first album you ever owned? (That had meaning to you)

It was ABBA. We grew up the same time they had their success during the seventies and it was magic to hear that new sound coming.

Q: How do you know when you’ve found a perfect beat/track/song/lyrics?

It’s an emotional feeling that is hard to describe but it’s full of happiness goosebumps and other things.

Q: What Is Something You Like To Do That Other person Would Probably Consider “Weird” If They Knew?

Hmm we are so normal.. but we love to travel and perhaps climb some mountains in the Amazon or something dangerous

Q: What Is The Most Hilarious Childhood Memory You Can Think Of?

That was hard .. can’t come up with anything right now.. Hmm

Q: What’s The Number One Item You Would Save From Your Burning House?

Perhaps old articles of my dead father from when he was younger playing national hockey in Sweden (Per). Otherwise don’t know

Q: What Goals Do You Have For The Next Year?

Create much more music and to get out LIVE again.. we miss the audience so much.
