Though this past year has been brutal for many around the globe, there are a few silver linings: more time with family, an emphasis on health and safety, and perhaps a greater appreciation for the things we once took for granted. For this English duo, and soon for the world of EDM, their quarantine takeaway has been coming together to form DJ act G3MINI.
Now, it is time to set themselves apart as their own act. Their highly anticipated debut single ‘Savage’ is set to release on March 5, 2021. The single is signed onto Virgin Records, in collaboration with American singer Aaron Pfeiffer. Already, it is clear that the pair shows incredible potential, and critics and fans alike should keep an eye out for their future projects.
To learn more about G3MINI, including what advice they’d give to someone looking into electronic music, read our interview with them below.
Q: Before we dig in, what’s next for you?
Our plans are simple, release one banger after another. We’ve prepared so many records during the lockdown that we can’t wait to show you. Also, we’re so inpatient for the clubs reopening and festivals restarting where we finally can meet our listeners and fans.
Q: What advice do you have for someone looking into getting into electronic music?
Leave your current job, prepare yourself for very hard work around the clock, be patient, stay productive and try to learn as much as possible about electronic music production. Also, don’t forget about the business side and marketing. At the beginning you will have to take care of all these tasks yourself.
Q: What is the last song you listened to?
Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It ☺
Q: What/when has your favorite performance been?
Since we officially started with G3MINI in the beginning of the first lockdown (after a year spent in recording studio) – last March, our favourite gig yet was in our living room. However, as separate acts, we had amazing performances in the venues, such as Ministry of Sound, Egg London and Fire & Lightbox.
Q: What type of musician would you prefer to collaborate with?
We would love to collaborate with Nile Rodgers. We have written several tracks with guitars where his input would have a big impact.
Q: If you could bring one artist back to life, who would it be?
Q: What will finally break the internet?
Q: Which fictional character is the most interesting to you?
Stewie Griffin from Family Guy.
Q: What ridiculous thing has someone tricked you into doing or believing?
When we were kids, we believed that Santa Claus existed.
Q: What’s the first trip you're going to take once the world reopens?
We have already packed our luggage to Ibiza! Looking forward to having our first gigs there!
