HNTR Talks Deadmau5 Inspired Progressive Sounds

HNTR joined us at the Nexus Lounge Virtual at theROOF at theWIT in Chicago in celebration of the Amsterdam Dance Event.

Hunter Siegel is a producer and vocalist known for making radio-friendly music. Siegel wanted to experiment in the underground dance scene, exploring utilizing a more diverse sonic array. He formed his alter-ego HNTR and most recently released the Mind Games album under that name.

HNTR is excited to see in-person events returning but thinks COVID has reshaped how the industry works for the better. For example, he loves how executive meetings have been moved over to Zoom and that you don’t need to be “in the room” anymore to collaborate.

HNTR is thrilled to see the return of in-person events, but thinks that COVID has reshaped the way the industry operates for the better. He likes how executives’ meetings have been shifted to Zoom, and there is no longer any need to be “in the room” to collaborate.

"Getting that co-sign and being on the label making this sound is important to me... I made the music with [getting signed by Deadmau5] in mind. I was like, 'I want this to go somewhere."

A massive dream, for HNTR, is recording a track with Deadmau5. He’s envious of Deadmau5’s “weird” studio, and has been trying to copy it to the max. In a studio that’s only about a sixteenth the size of Deadmau5, HNTR can pull off big things.
As part of our Take 5 series, we asked HNTR what he thinks is needed to create a hit album. His response was simple but full of truth: “It’s innocence.”
HNTR acknowledges plenty of pop tunes with bizarre lyrics. The producer went one step further when asked how much importance he thinks lyric production plays in creating a hit song. Sure, lyric writing can be an art form, but the group takes Route 94’s “My Love” as a prime example.
The producer said that if he could do anything from 5-years ago, it would have been investing in Bitcoin. By now, HNTR would be a millionaire if he did this. He also hinted about how he wishes he could alter his past to improve his present and future.
HNTR continually plays around with new sounds, taking cues from the likes of Deadmau5 to some pretty impressive results. Stay up-to-date with their latest releases by listening to Nexus Radio or following their feed.
