THE TAKE 5 SERIES

ADE 2020 EDITION

We caught up with Netherlands-based DJ, record producer, and entrepreneur Sam Feldt for our Take 5 Challenge. Sam Feldt has been working in music for over six years, having first released a remake of Robin S.’s track “Show me Love” in 2015. The song became an instant hit, peaking at number 4 on the UK’s singles chart. In 2020, Feldt announced the founding of his own label, Heartfeldt Records, from which he released “Hold Me Close” featuring Ella Henderson.

In what is sure to be one of the best collaborations of this year, Sam Feldt and The Him have recently released the new single “Use Your Love” featuring Goldford, on Spinnin’ Records. Sam caught up with us to chat about his newest work, and to give us some great answers to our Take 5 questions.

Q; Before we dig in, tell us about your latest project.

My latest project has been finishing up a brand new EP, called Home Sweet Home. It’s scheduled to be released next month, so I’ve been busy getting all the masters done in time and delivering all the tracks to the DSP’s. I’ve also just released a brand new remix for Elderbrook, which is doing really well.

Q; What cocktail (or drink) recipe is getting you through the pandemic?

Haha, I’m more of a wine fanatic than a cocktail lover! I’ve actually started doing a professional wine course during the pandemic and I’m learning more about it each day. A nice, big Spanish red from Ribera Del Duero always does the trick f or me.

Q; What is your first musical memory?

My dad is a musician a s well, and I still remember coming along to his concerts when I was a little kid. I’ve been exposed to (live) music from a very young age and making & performing music was always a big part of my life growing up.

Q: What’s the most useless talent you have?

I’m a master at making silly faces.

Q; If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

What’s the secret to a long and happy life?

Q: You must survive in the Amazon Rainforest for a year. Which 3 DJs or industry friends would you take with you and why?

Vintage Culture, Cat Dealers (both Brazilian acts who know their way around that area) and Robin Schulz (who is an expert cook & knows how to grill any type of meat, fish, and plant).

Q: Which fictional character would be the most exciting to meet in real life?

Eddie Morra from Limitless.

Q: Amsterdam, New York, or Tokyo?

Tokyo – simply the most electrifying and energizing city in the world.

Q: Do you sing in the shower?

Never!

Q: And finally, what’s on your Netflix watch list?

Right now I am watching a Dutch crime series called Undercover, which is available worldwide in case you want to check it out (and learn some Dutch along the way).
