How RETROSPEKT Is Pushing For More Diversity In The Arts

For many people in the music world, last year’s RETROSPEKT was a real game-changer. Produced by the pioneering events/marketing company Ideasion, the event was their in-person debut and an amazing opportunity for a broad spectrum of artists to take part in a truly cutting-edge show.

Now they’re gearing up for another show this February and hype levels are through the roof. With tickets for the Los Angeles show on sale right now, what better moment could there be to take a deep dive into this incredible event and why it’s so important to so many music lovers?

An Event Like No Other

RETROSPEKT really is the only event of its nature in the world. Championing experimental technology, a modern approach to live shows, and a genuinely diverse set of artists, it’s hard to deny the organizer’s commitment to progressive ideals.

If we’re being honest about the industry, it’s fair to say that event organizers haven’t always championed diversity as much as we might want them to. While many are happy to talk about the need for inclusivity, when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, there’s still a long way to go.

And that’s what makes RETROSPEKT so different. They began the event in 2020 as an inclusive, virtual festival, and from the start, their goal was always to bring in artists from all sorts of backgrounds. They’ve helped to promote the role of women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ people, bringing these marginalized voices to the foreground of their shows.

Two million twitch views in 48 hours later, it was clear that the audience for this kind of festival was very much out there. Since then, they’ve shifted to an in-person event, but their passion and enthusiasm for creating a fantastic original show remains.

What’s Good For Artists Is Good For The Arts

Events like this are, of course, great for artists, giving them a chance to showcase their creative voices in a place where they might never usually get to do so. But, that being said, there also great for us, the audience.

By championing diversity, RETROSPEKT is creating a space where new ideas and approaches can flourish. That means more originality, more creativity, and more art and music from people who are passionate about what they do.
