Joining us at the CalPAK space in the Nexus Lounge, Miami edition, Landis spoke with us about his record label, his recent work, and a few cool things he might just have in store for us.

A Miami native, Landis is one of the future house’s most promising figures, especially within the American EDM scene. Known for incredible tracks like “Puerto Rico” and “Nobody Like You”, his sound combines a broad mainstream appeal with a unique blend of future house and bass house.

He’s also the founder of Fresh Squeeze Records, which is part of DJ icon Don Diablo’s Hexagon family. Fresh Squeeze aims to produce what Landis describes as “feel-good fresh house music.” One surprising upshot of running Fresh Squeeze is that Landis’ wardrobe choices have become a lot easier as he now always wears orange, which aligns with the company’s branding.

When asked about the origins of the label and how he came to be part of the Hexagon family, Landis had this to say:

“I’ve been working with them for probably six or seven years now. I think the first record we did was one of their [Amsterdam Dance Event] sampler packs and just loved it. Don loved it and asked if I had any more.”

Not long after he began working with Diablo, RetroVision – another Hexagon artist – did a flip of his track “Nobody Like You” which went viral and the rest was history.

And it wasn’t just the partnership with Hexagon that ultimately bore fruit. According to Landis, he and RetroVision have another track in the works –  a flip of the classic ‘90s track “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus.

And speaking of upcoming Landis projects, he also mentioned that Fresh Squeeze are signing on several new artists while he himself is planning to start touring Europe and Asia in the next y

“I love just exploring new places and kind of just seeing the world. Just traveling light and going and checking out the city I’m in. You don’t always get the most time whenever you’re touring, but I try and take at least a couple of hours to go explore the city and do some touristy stuff, you know?”

Alternatively, if you’re based in the US, you can often catch him at his Miami Hard Rock Cafe residency, where he says he’ll continue to perform throughout the coming months.
