We caught up with singer/songwriter/performer and vocalist extraordinaire Lovlee at the CALPAK Space in our Nexus Lounge Miami as part of Miami Music Week. The Northern California-based artist chatted about her recent shift to a deep house progressive sound, shared some travel tips, and played a quick round of our signature Nexus Take 5 series.
Lovlee has rapidly gained recognition in electronic dance music, earning praise for her emotional and honest featured vocals. One of her most iconic collaborations was “Our Moon” with Ferry Corsten, which was named “Tune of the Week” on the globally renowned Armin van Buuren radio show “ASOT.” The song has surpassed over 3 million streams and continues to be streamed daily. Her follow-up collaboration with Eli Brown premiered on BBC Radio 1 and surpassed over 3 million streams, continuing to be played out regularly.
Since entering dance music four years ago, this talented artist has worked with DJs such as Markus Schulz, Paul Thomas, and many more credible producers and labels. Regarded as ‘one of the most heartfelt vocalists,’ Lovlee’s unique blend of soulful vocals and deep house progressive sound continues to resonate with listeners worldwide.
Getting into our interview, Lovlee shares that it’s her third time at Miami Music Week and that she’s looking forward to her upcoming gigs, including a performance at the celebrated Mangos Club with DJ Bexxie.
When asked whether she had any travel tips for artists out there who are finding themselves on the road more often than not, she shared: “Don’t try to pack light, cause it won’t happen.” She’s just like us, for real.
Lovlee recently shifted towards a more progressive deep house and tech house sound, which is somewhat distant from her trance roots. Her new single, “Honest”, represents this new sound brilliantly, highlighting her versatility and profound connection with fans and new listeners alike.
Before she heads out, Lovlee plays a quick game of our signature rapid-fire question series, Nexus Take 5. The DJ shared her favorite tracks from last year, talked us through some embarrassing moments in her childhood, and shared why Titanic is the scariest movie she’s ever watched.
